Albertson's Homemade Wheat Bread

This is our family's recipe for our homemade bread, and pictures of how we do it. It is NOT gluten free. We have had to change the recipe a little since moving to KY, to make it rise enough.

Wheat flour 15 cups
Flax (pre-ground) 2/3 cup
Warm water 6 1/4 cups
Yeast 5 T. (heaping)

Oil 5/6 cup
Honey 5/6 cup
Gluten 5 T. (heaping)
Salt 2 1/2 T.

Combine first 4 ingredients, but save half the wheat to add at the end. Mix for a minute. Then add the last 4 ingredients and the remaining flour.

We have a wheat grinder and not a good way to store a big amount of ground-flour, so I grind some wheat every other time I make bread.

 2/3 cup. of flaxseed  (We use a Nutribullet for grinding our flax)

 15 cups of flour

 5 T. of yeast

 This is what it looks like after the flour (half of it), flax, water, and yeast have been mixed for a minute.

 Add the oil, honey, gluten, and salt, then top off with the rest of the flour.

 While the dough is mixing for 10 minutes, put a small pool of oil on your cutting board.

 And grease your bread pans.

 Then dump the dough out on your cutting board and knead for just a minute.

 Now it's ready to be thrown. Seriously! We have found out that throwing it on the cutting board helps it to rise better. So I throw it down 5 or 6 times.

 Then I divide it into 4 loaves and throw each of those loaves several more times.

 Put the loaves in the pans and let rise for 25 minutes.

 After rising, THEN preheat the oven to 375*. When preheated, bake the bread for 5 minutes, then turn oven down to 350* to bake for another 20 minutes. (Another thing we've found to work for Kentucky)

 And there you go! Freshly baked bread that sends its fragrance throughout the house!

February 2018

For being the shortest month of the year, February has been very full!

It started out with Youth Convention in Central PA. Our youth pastor, Andy Stroud and quite a few from the youth group got to go on this trip, along with 3 families. We were blessed to get to take the GBS bus instead of having to rent several vans to get there.

Saturday of the convention was filled with sessions, meals, and sports.

In the evenings and all day Sunday were services that were so blessed by God's presence!

So thankful for these dear brothers and sisters in Christ who were responsible for our youth group.

Sunday evening of the convention the youth choir sang a couple songs.

Then just our church group sang a special song. God helped us even though we were nervous.

 On the way back home, at one stop we got locked out of the bus, so the guys had to figure out how to break in and get the keys.

 Meanwhile, while I was in PA, our dear friends from Colorado, Cara and Faith Brown got visit my parents and sister for a day.

We had lots of snow storms the first part of February, including one ice storm.

Everything was beautiful and dangerous for a couple days.

One Sunday at church they had Jr. Church in the main sanctuary, instead of in the Fellowship Hall like usual, so that all the adults could see what it's like and know how to pray more for the Jr. Church ministry.

Amy Weddle's bridal shower was on the 22nd, at the Fellowship Hall. Mother and Elizabeth got to go to it, but I didn't because of work.

Amy is a godly, sweet lady that I look up to. Everyone is both excited and sad about her soon getting married, because she won't live near anymore.

The last weekend in February, my brother Tim and his family from MO got to stop by to visit on their travels toward Georgia. Elizabeth and Tim cutting carrots on Saturday night for Sunday dinner.

Jason and Karen came for supper and the evening so they could see Tim and Brenda too.

Sunday, the 25th, we had Tim and Brenda with us, and our friend Mikah L. who was visiting our church that morning. It was good to see her again!

For work, I took 3 catering deliveries in Feb. One of them took me down an adventurous road that showed me some of the flooding that's been going on.

 One day after SWSE I got to help my friend Kimberly Dickinson and her siblings with packing bags for her missions trip.

It was so fun to help with a project that will bless the people in Honduras that she gives these bags to!

Young Ladies Bible Study is always a blessing to me! Sister Loper on the very left, leads the lesson, and Sherilyn to her right, adds to the lesson. It is so encouraging to be walking this journey with these young ladies, who are seeking God with all their hearts.

Mother has been making beautiful quilts, like usual! This is a top that she completed just in time for Tim and Brenda to take it with them to her quilter.

This is a quilt that Tim and Brenda brought back from the quilter, then Mother bound the edges, and now it is finished!
